What is up with our world?
Have you ever been on some social media sight that has videos and you just scroll through some? Some are very funny. People are talented for sure! Some are quite raw and need to be avoided! Certain videos are very disturbing to me and those videos are ones of people doing violence to others. To me, it is extremely troubling that people have such a lack of respect or even concern for others. What is even more so disturbing are videos that show such violence and are being recorded with pleasure!
To see someone have a brick thrown in their face and those recording it are laughing, is very vexatious. How did we get to this point in our society? I know that we always have had hate-filled people but it just seems that their population has exploded over the last few years. To make it worse, it seems that our political leaders and government agencies are not doing much to curb it!
I have a pretty good idea of what is taking place. The Bible actually tells us about these types of things. Jesus was asked by His disciples this question, "Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" Jesus answered them and gave them a clear list of events and acts that would take place before His coming. These events and acts are signs that will begin the Tribulation period. Much of what we see taking place in our society, and in the entire world, are the signs that Jesus warns us about.
Unfortunately, I do not expect things to get better. This is part of the reason why our church's theme for this year is "Let's Love More in 2024!" Let's be honest. People need to experience true love. 1 John 4:16, "And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." God is the inventor of and the perfect example of true love.
To hate, to be callous, to disrespect others does not take much effort. To love others does! To love is much more difficult but it is so much more needed today! The Apostle Paul told the believers, believers not the lost, in the church at Corinth about his love for them. He said in 2 Corinthians 12:15, "And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved." WOW!! That is true love for others! Paul told them that his love for them would not stop but it would grow, regardless of how they treated him or how they responded to his love!
This type of love is what our world needs! But, this type of love must first begin in the church! If it is not in the church, it will not get into the world! Considered joining us this year to accomplish our goal: "Let's Love More in 2024!"
