Is it the Most Wonderful Time of the Year?

Picture
The Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are upon us! Preparing us for our 2026 goals of losing weight! After all, "EAT UP!" it's Thanksgiving, or it's Christmas, or it's football season, or it's a day that ends in "Y" so EAT UP!
We are in the times of massive traffic jams, both on the roads and in the stores. Times of Holiday Jeer, Seasons Beatings (emotional stress), and Bad Will towards others. I know, a little sinical aren't I! This time of year just doesn't seem to be what it once was, at least in my mind. It seems to me that in 2025 we, as a nation, are more divided and mean spirited than ever before. That may or may not be true, I really do not feel like investigating the statistical facts, but it seems that way to me. Traditionally this time of the year is the time for reconciliation, forgiveness, thankfulness, giving, and helping others.
As born again Bible believing Christians, we need to lead the way in the positive aspects of the Holidays. We should lead in being thankful, giving, forgiving, and helping others not because people deserve it but because of all that the Lord Jesus Christ gives us even though we don't deserve it. Paul reminds us of who we are and how we are supposed to be in Ephesians 4:31-5:2, "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."
Is it really the Most Wonderful Time of the Year? It is what we make it to be! Supposedly we celebrate our thanksgiving to the Lord, and the birth of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us all make this season better by being our best for Him! If we daily apply these verses in Ephesians we will bring some Light in our communities. We can "put away" bitterness, wrath, anger, evil speaking. We can be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving towards others. How? By following God, walking in love, and understanding that the Father does for us not because we deserve it but He does it for Jesus' sake. Therefore, we can do for others not because they deserve it but we do it for Jesus!
At LBC, we hope in 2025 this season will be the Most Wonderful Time of the Year for you!

We invite you to join us! 9:30 AM for our Morning Bible Study and 10:00 AM for our Morning Worship.

May the Lord Jesus bless you and your family during this time of year!
